Consider window improvement services . See draught seal and overhaul or restoration services. Typically 15-25% cost of replacement and would not require consent. It is usually possible to draught seal the windows without consent.

Improvement: Reduce heat loss

This requires a thermal break and can be achieved in a number of ways.

  • Draught seal existing window and use secondary glazing or timber shutters
  • Draught seal and introduce new double glazed sashes*
  • Complete replacement*

Improvement: Reduce the levels of outside noise

This requires a dead air space and can be achieved in a number of ways.
